River Rafting with Alpinestar Holidays

The challenge of the Himalayan Rivers is in no way less than that of the rugged Himalayan peaks and passes. The Mighty Himalayas are the source of many of Indias Mighty Rivers. Fed by uncountable streams they run along tortuous boulder strewn beds, cutting deep narrow gorges and emerging out into Silvery white foaming rapids. These rapids gave birth to one of the most exciting of the adventure sports "White Water Rafting ".

White water rafting in India is almost exclusive confined to the river, which flow southward from the Himalayas, gushing and making their way between densely forested mountain and through steep gorges.

Rafting on Ganga

CAMP A-STAR is well located in natural surroundings with the sublime Ganges as its backdrop. The camp, with its private beach and a portion of riverside forest, is a ideal place for outdoor activities. White water rafting (for anyone over 12 years of age) is the major attraction. Fun at bonfire and discussions about the rapids and there grades are a must.

Activities like Rock climbing, Rappelling, body Surfing, Canyoning Kayaking & Hiking are all there for the taking. There are plenty of things you can do at Camp Alpinestar Holidays and many good things that we could say about the camp, but one thing is for sure, that the young will feel responsible and the old will feel young and the young at heart will feel at home.

River Rafting at Indus

Phey - Nimo route
The Indus river which is also known as the 'Lion River', the Indus, having originated hundreds of kilometers further east from near the Kailash Mountain and the Mansarovar Lake in Tibet.
Indus River is one of the most striking white water runs anywhere in the Himalayas. The view is incredible which takes one through the canyon in the Ladakh and Zanskar ranges with various monasteries or gompas along the river bank. The icy cold and clear river have rapids generally of I and II grades and at some places, has grade III to even V rapids. Water levels are high, between the end of June and late August, which is the best season for fascinating rafting expeditions.

River Rafting at Zansar, Ladakh

Phey – Nimmy
Born from the merging of the Stod and Tsarap rivers, the Zanskar arises near the border between Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, and makes its way northward, to meet the Indus at Nimmy. A beautiful stretch of water, the Zanskar is not as wild and wicked as it is thought to be. It does have some grade III and IV rapids but they are fewer and more far between Among the most exciting runs on the Zanskar is the Padum – Nimmu run, a trip which takes several days and involves having to Camp out in the wild. This run is full of exciting good rapids and we only recommend this trip to people with fair bit of experience in white water rafting.
